Stages of recovering from drug addiction
You will begin on a four-stage rehab recovery road at any of the solutions treatment center, if you opt to join a professional alcohol and drug treatment program.
The First Stage of Treatment
While you seek assistance from a reputed and reliable drug and alcohol rehab or solutions treatment centre, you begin the treatment initiation stage of your recovery.
In the early stages of your therapy, you may have conflicting feelings about permanently abstaining from your drug of choice, and then you might assume that your drug addiction issue isn’t as severe as others’. Such thoughts must all be avoided where possible. Ambivalence and denial may be your most difficult adversaries in the early stages of recovery.
The goal of therapy at this point is to assist the patient in making the decision to actively participate in treatment at Solutions Treatment Center.
During this stage of therapy, the counsellor will collect a history of an individual’s personal alcohol and drug use, explain the treatment programme, and work with the client to develop an individualised treatment plan.
Stage 2: Early Abstinence
If you decide to continue treatment for your drug addiction, you will enter the second stage of recovery, known as early abstinence. Long-term alcohol abstinence is associated with better treatment outcomes. Due to a variety of issues, this may be the most difficult time to deal with.
- Withdrawal symptoms that persist
- The mind controls one’s food appetite.
- Triggers that may cause a relapse
Taste buds, societal pressure to drink, and elevated scenarios that could lead to alcohol consumption are all obstacles at this point in therapy. Your specialist addiction therapist will start to teach you the coping mechanisms you’ll need to maintain a clean lifestyle throughout this early stage of sobriety.
Stage 3- Maintaining your sobriety
Individuals will progress first from early abstinence stage of recovery to the third stage, sustaining abstinence, after approximately 90 days of consistent abstinence. If you began your recovery in a residential facility, you will now enter an outpatient ongoing or follow-up counselling phase.
Avoiding relapse and maintaining sobriety are two of the main objectives of this phase of therapy. You’ll learn to recognise the symptoms of recurrence as well as the factors that can lead to one.
Individuals will also know how to apply the skill sets you managed to learn in early abstinence to other areas of life at this stage of your therapy so that you really can live a truly sober life.
Stage 4-Getting Better at Recovering at a Higher Level
This is where you put your treatment skills and knowledge to use in order to live a healthy and productive life.
If you learn to use these strategies, you will be a healthier person, an improved spouse and father, an effective member of society, and a lovely neighbour and citizen. Sobriety maintenance is only one component of the process of healing. It all comes down to having to figure out how to live a better, healthier life.
